A shipment of 18 tonnes of deep-processed crispy grass carp products was loaded and dispatched on May 25, bound for the United States market, according to Zhongshan Foodstuffs and Aquatic Import and Export Group Co Ltd of Guangdong. This marks the group's largest order of crispy grass carp products in European and American markets over the past three years.

Zhongshan crispy grass carp, a national geographical indication product, has expanded beyond its traditional markets of Hong Kong and Macao in recent years, gradually making its way to Southeast Asia and beyond. With support from authorities including Zhongshan Customs, the group has improved its aquaculture techniques and deep-processing technologies, enabling the crispy grass carp to successfully clear the stringent market access barriers for aquatic products in Europe and the United States.

According to customs statistics, exports of edible aquatic products from Zhongshan exceeded 23.44 million US dollars in the first quarter of this year, of which the group's aquatic product exports (excluding canned products) surpassed 14 million US dollars.
