Huang Guiguang, Secretary of Party Working Committee of Shiqi District, received a media interview on Feb 13. He reviewed the highlights of the economic development of the district last year and proposed that this year will be the "work promotion year" for the district. Shiqi District will focus attention on the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and high-quality economic development, as well as put great effort in the construction of the Shiqi Headquarters Economic Zone.

Statistics show that in 2018 Shiqi District ranked among the top in the city in many economic indexes. Its estimated gross regional production was 24.214 billion yuan, up 8.4% on a yearly basis. The added value of its service sector was 20.569 billion yuan, up 7.3%.

On August 3, 2018, the construction of the Zhongshan (Shiqi) Headquarter Economic Zone started. As the preliminary work is completed, the project is now under comprehensive construction.

Shiqi District has carried out investment promotion activities in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities for headquarter economy and launched negotiation with a dozen of China's top 500 companies such as Greenland, G&F Group, Cedar Holdings and Amer, 7 of which had intention to invest in Zhongshan. So far, the city also confirmed 4 projects, with a total planned investment of 15 billion yuan.
