Zhongshan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.1% in February from a month earlier. This increase accounts for a gain of 0.5% on a yearly basis.

Compared with January, food prices increased 3.6%, primarily due to a strong demand before the Spring Festival. The prices of fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, and meat climbed 13.8%, 11.6%, and 3.9%, respectively. The prices of grain, oil, poultry and eggs held at a relatively stable level.

The price of industrial products rebounded. Specifically, the price of gasoline rose 3.6%, and the price of vehicles increased 1.4%. The start of the back-to-school season led to a 3% increase in the price of educational supplies. The price of medicine and medical devices was up 0.2%.

The prices of some services also grew before the Spring Festival, but fell back after the holiday. The price of travel agency fees rose 8.6%, while movie ticket prices climbed 8.9%. Car wash prices increased as well, which led to a 4.9% rise in the costs of vehicle repair and maintenance.
