The Photonic Science Frontier Research Seminar was recently organized in Zhongshan. More than 60 first-class domestic experts and scholars, including He Xiantu and Zhang Weiyan, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as well as Fan Dianyuan and Tang Li, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gathered in Zhongshan to discuss the development and industrial applications of the cutting-edge photonic science technologies.

Zhongshan will thus speed up the construction of the Zhongshan Photonics Center to further promote the rapid development of photonic science based on the ultra-high peak power laser technology.

The Zhongshan Photonics Center will be jointly established by the Laser Fusion Research Centre, CAEP with the Zhongshan People's Government. This center will be composed of three platforms: Super Relativistic Physics Experiment Platform, Advanced Laser Technology and Application Public R&D Platform and Technology Achievement Transformation Platform.

The center will meet the development needs of Zhongshan in the fields of advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, biomedicine and optical optoelectronics, and create an advanced laser technology R&D center and industrial application base with an international leading level.
