A video conference on the pilot promotion campaign of digital rural development was held in Guangzhou on August 17. The conference announced the Pilot Implementation Plan of Digital Rural Development in Guangdong Province, with 10 counties (cities and districts) including Doumen District of Zhuhai City and 20 towns (subdistricts) including Xinlong Town of Huangpu District, Guangzhou City as pilots for digital rural development. Zhongshan's Dongsheng Town has been determined as a pilot town for digital rural development.

Dongsheng is well known as "The Home of Crisped Grass Carp in China". It has an aquaculture area for crisped grass carp of about 17,000 mu (11.3 square kilometers), accounting for 54.8% of the total in Zhongshan. Dongsheng has formulated the strategy, planning and design, and major policies for digital rural development, taken the efficient construction of crisped grass carp farming industry as an important aspect in implementing the digital rural strategy, and sped up the efficient development of crisped grass carp aquiculture, processing and sales.
