The newly recognized municipal specialized villages and towns for 2020 were announced recently. Guzhen Town is a newly recognized specialized town, and 6 villages (communities) including Qunlian Village in Tanzhou Town are recognized as specialized villages.

There are 2 national "One Product for One Village" demonstration towns, 6 provincial specialized towns, 16 provincial specialized villages, 7 municipal specialized towns and 22 municipal specialized villages in Zhongshan.

Since 2019, the Zhongshan Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has cultivated a number of specialized villages and towns in prominent leading industries, improved brand awareness, and helped to make a significant increase in farmers' incomes. In 2020, Zhongshan allocated an amount of 5.6 million yuan as special support funds to uphold the construction of specialized villages and towns.

According to statistics from the Zhongshan Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the per capita disposable income of farmers engaged in leading industries in specialized villages and towns is at least 10% higher than that of farmers engaged in the same industries in other areas.
