The 23rd China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE 2021) opened on September 16 in Shenzhen city. Many Zhongshan-based enterprises participate in the exhibition to showcase the achievements of Zhongshan in the optoelectronic industry.

The same day, the Zhongshan Institute of the Changchun University of Science and Technology, which has been in preparation for nearly half a year, was busy getting its launch ceremony ready.

Relying on the solid foundation of Zhongshan's optoelectronic industry, this heavyweight platform plans to build up a high-end optoelectronic industrial park in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and cultivate high-quality talent for enterprises to promote the government-industry-education-research cooperation.

Li Lijuan, executive director of the Zhongshan Institute, said that Zhongshan has a well-developed optoelectronic industry with a good foundation, when the Changchun University of Science and Technology has a definitive edge in optoelectronics around the country. The bilateral cooperation between both sides is a perfect match.

The Zhongshan Institute will combine the advantages of the optics research of the Changchun University of Science and Technology with the industrial structure of the Torch Development Zone to jointly promote the integration of the government-industry-education-research cooperation as well as to build the "Optoelectronic Silicon Valley" in Zhongshan.

Currently, the Zhongshan Institute has already established a joint training base for graduates with 11 Zhongshan enterprises, including Union Optech, Aiscent Technologies, Hongjing Optoelectronic Technology and Fragrant Mountain Microwave. It is also setting up 15 laboratories, each of which will sign cooperation contracts with local optoelectronic enterprises.

In the future, the Zhongshan Institute also plans to establish a high-end GBA optoelectronic industrial park in Torch Development Zone's ZOS Park.
