"Shenwan Town is making great efforts to develop port economy, which greatly impresses us," says Xu Zhenfei, general manager of Zhongshan Xinhai Precision Manufacturing Technology Co Ltd that is located on Modao Island, Shenwan Town. "We aim to increase our production by more than 50% this year to reach an output value of 300 million yuan."

Xu Zhenfei believes that there are more oppportunities in Shenwan, as it is significantly accelerating its development and in particular building a port economic zone, taking advantage of the Shenwan Port and the independent yacht tour service between Guangdong and Macao.

"According to the plans, the port economic zone will cover the entire Shenwan town," says He Zhenwei, deputy mayor of Shenwan Town. "We will focus on developing the high-end equipment manufacturing industry and port economy and comprehensively upgrade traditional industries."

At present, Shenwan has proposed two large-sized modern industrial parks, namely Waisha Science and Innovation Park and Shenxi Industrial Park, and has put 12 key projects on record, including the Yuqi Supply Chain Project and Zhongshan Industrial Carbon-based Green Island Service Center Project, with a total investment of 5 billion yuan and an expected annual output value of over 10 billion yuan.

Combining with the construction of provincial marine high-end industry cluster, Shenwan is also setting aside an area of 5,632 mu (about 375.5 hectares) in the Shenxi district to develop port economy basing on such sectors as intelligent marine engineering equipment R&D, precision marine manufacturing, new energy and new material.
