After a simple "dragon eye-painting" ceremony, the 12th West District Drunken Dragon Culture Festival of Zhongshan kicked off at Huang's Ancestral Hall on May 8.

The Changzhou Drunken Dragon Team and Beibao Drunken Dragon Team performed drunken dragon dances together. The oldest dancer was nearly 80 years old, and the youngest was a small child who just turned 3 years old. Audience members all applauded their wonderful performance.

The two teams then departed from Huang's Ancestral Hall and paraded through Yanzhou Primary School, Changzhou Community Committee, West District Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall, and Houwang Temple.

In recent years, West District has been committed to the protection and inheritance of the Drunken Dragon Dance program. It has successively launched "Drunken Dragon Wine" and "Drunken Dragon Banquet" shows, issued Drunken Dragon-themed stamps, and produced Drunken Dragon-themed documentaries to promote this Intangible Cultural Heritage program.

From May to November this year, West District will hold theme photography and art exhibitions on Drunken Dragon culture, launch original cultural products, and carry out free Drunken Dragon dance lessons among colourful activities.
