The first round of the 2022 Greater Bay Area SUP Club League was held in Zhongshan on June 12. More than 140 contestants of 12 teams from such Greater Bay Area cities as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Huizhou, Macao and Zhongshan gathered in Zhongshan for the adventurous standup paddle boarding (SUP) competition.

Zheng Yong, from Haotou Village of Torch Development Zone, finished first in the preliminary 300m skill race of the primary school division. Zheng said that he is 10 years old and has been learning stand up paddle boarding for nearly one year. He always has one-day training during the weekend.

Stand up paddle boarding, or SUP, is a trendy sport that originated in Hawaii. The GBA SUP league is expected to be held in Macao, Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen, and other cities this year.
