"Our restaurant has seen a 30% to 40% growth in customers. Reservation calls came in even at 9pm, and most of them were from Shenzhen," said Sun Guosong, owner of the Xiangxing Restaurant in Zuobu Village, Nanlang Sub-district, adding that a large number of Shenzhen tourists flock to Nanlang and drive the boom of culture and tourism market after the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, or ShenZhong Link.
According to statistics provided by the tourism department, Nanlang received over 260,000 tourists in total during the 5-day period from June 30 to July 4.
Walking in Yakou, Zuobu and Chongkou villages in Nanlang, you will find tourists everywhere, taking photos or sitting around chatting, and also vehicles from Shenzhen.
Nanlang will further improve its support in catering, accommodation, traveling, shopping and entertainment for the influx of tourists from the Greater Bay Area, said Li Huixing, chief of the tourism department of Nanlang.
Recently, Shenzhen's Boan District and Zhongshan's Nanlang Sub-district have been strengthening cooperation in the culture and tourism sector and launched a series of tourist routes to promote "food hunting" trips in Yakou, Zuobu and other places in Zhongshan.
For the convenience of tourists, Cuiheng New District (Nanlang Sub-district) has partnered up with the transportation authorities to introduce 2 special sightseeing bus lines. Visitors can enjoy free rides on the lines until September 30.
