Zhongshan's low-altitude industry chain taking shape

Inside the production workshop of Fengze Technology, machines whir at high speed as workers rush through assembly at their stations.

Founded in 2018, Fengze Technology specializes in plastic mold production and has made drone propeller blades its flagship products. As China's agricultural plant-protection drone industry has grown rapidly, the Zhongshan-based company has steadily expanded its operations and successfully broken into overseas markets.

"Zhongshan boasts a complete supply chain — from precision injection molding and tooling to carbon-fiber composite processing. The entire propeller production can be fully sourced locally, drastically shortening the cycle for outsourcing of components and reducing production costs."

Peng Kaijiang, founder of Fengze Technology, added that Zhongshan hosts a cluster of well-known full-system drone makers, such as FCourier and Vertaxi, enabling the company to connect with downstream customers face to face.

In recent years, Zhongshan has pushed hard to develop its low-altitude economy through matching-fund support and dedicated action plans. Today, a low-altitude economy supply chain, spanning upstream materials, midstream manufacturing and downstream applications, has begun to take shape.

Tanzhou town, for example, has attracted more than 20 low-altitude economy firms, building an end-to-end ecosystem led by whole-drone manufacturing, underpinned by flight-control system R&D, and extended through supporting flight services.

Fusha town, meanwhile, has leveraged its licensed airport facilities and superior clear-airspace conditions to carve out a niche in test-flight verification — a critical link in the industry chain.

Banfu and Xiaolan towns, leveraging their geographic advantages and manufacturing foundations, continue to absorb spillover from Shenzhen's drone industry, focusing on processing and assembling small-drone components.

And, Cuiheng New District and Torch High-Tech Zone are pioneering downstream applications such as passenger drones and drone logistics.
