Zhou Yanmin was singing salty water song.

Nearly 2,000 elderly people gathered in Yumin Community in Dongsheng Town on the evening of October 19. The senior’s activity of the community kicked off later with a salty water song “A Moon Night in Waterside” performed by Zhou Yanmin, the new “king of salty water song” in Zhongshan.

On the next day, the girl claimed the Solo Gold Medal of The 2018 Guangdong Salty Water Song (Fisherman’s Song) Contest in Guangzhou. 

Reportedly, since 2010, Zhou Yanmin has won a number of prizes including gold award of Guangdong Fisherman’s Song Competition, “New Salty Water Song King” of Pearl River Delta Salty Water Song Festival, and etc. The girl was also the first salty water song singer who won the first prize in Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Folk Song Contest for three consecutive years.

Zhou Yanmin along with 20 students of Shenglong Primary School in Dongsheng Town participated in the recording of CCTV program “Chinese Folk Songs Conference” in Beijing in 2016.

Recently, Zhou Yanmin was named “2018’s Guangdong Cultural Genius of Grass-root Propaganda” for her outstanding performance in “organizing, planning and participating in various grass-root level cultural activities, devoting to inheritance of national intangible cultural heritage ‘Zhongshan Salty Water Song’”, and promoting salty water song in schools”.
