On the morning of December 14, in a public welfare class in Bokai Community, Torch Development Zone, the elderly of the community played melodious music with the Erhu under the guidance of Guan Zhiguo.

Guan, a 43-year-old Erhu performer, has been promoting his favorite Erhu instrument through public welfare lectures and classes.

"Erhu is a traditional string instrument of our nation. I hope that through my efforts, more people can gain happiness and satisfaction from playing the Erhu and inherit this national traditional music instrument. In particular, the elderly and the visually impaired people in the community can find peace of mind through enjoying Erhu music," Guan said.

Offering public welfare class in Bokai Community is one of Guan's attempts to promote Erhu art. Every Monday morning, he comes here to give lessons to the elderly, and he has been doing this for two years.

In addition, he would also give public welfare lectures on Erhu art at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Library. Guan smiled and said he felt happy and satisfied whenever he saw more people feel the charm of the Erhu.
