The 16th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships 2023 have recently concluded. The China delegation sent out 12 teams to participate in 58 events. Chen Jianming from Zhongshan's Sanjiao Town was invited to join the Shunde Daliang dragon boat team, and he won a total of four gold medals with his teammates during the Championships.

Born in 1973, Chen Jianming is an authentic rower in Sanjiao Town. Ever since he was exposed to dragon boat racing in 2016, he has fallen in love with this sports event. Over the years, Chen participated in many domestic competitions and won medals. In 2022, as the coach, he led the Zhongshan dragon boat team to take part in the Guangdong Provincial Games and achieved a good result.

"This time I joined the Daliang dragon boat team on an individual basis. While training in Shunde, I felt their love for dragon boat racing and the charm of their traditional culture. I hope to participate in major competitions as a Zhongshan person and a member of the Zhongshan dragon boat team," Chen said.

Chen added that he will take part in the China Dragon Boat Open in September and November. "I want to train more younger dragon boat people to people to inherit the culture." Chen said.
