Wing Chun master wins 'cultural heritage ambassador award'

The 10th Year Anniversary of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Gala was held in Guangzhou on May 24. Celebrity chef Martin Yan and Wing Chun master Duncan Leung, whose ancestral home is in Zhongshan, were honored with the "Cultural Heritage Ambassador Awards".

Duncan Leung was born in Hong Kong, China in 1942. Recommended by Bruce Lee in 1955, he began studying under Ip Man and became Ip Man's first private disciple in Hong Kong by 1958.

For over half a century, Duncan Leung has been dedicated to promoting the theories, concepts and techniques of Wing Chun in the United States. Through books, workshops, and serving as a martial arts consultant for film productions, he has steadfastly carried forward the cultural heritage of Wing Chun.
