Zhongshan abounds in bananas. Those produced in Maoshengwei in Zhang Jiabian Village of Torch Development Zone are especially of superior quality.

Maoshengwei Bananas feature big fruit, greenish peel with black dots (aka "plum blossom dots"), white and tender pulp, and fresh and sweet taste. 

Maoshengwei is located on the junction area of salt and the fresh water. As a matter of experience, local farmers choose to grow bananas on the relatively-dry but close-to-water land, where produces superior fruits than those in other places.

The production base for Maoshengwei Bananas has been expanded to Hengmen area. However, only a small quantity of these bananas are sold on the home market as export demand exceeds supply.
