As the fifth day of the fifth lunar month approaches, Zongzi (sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves) exports have entered their peak season. According to Gongbei Customs, since May, Zhongshan Customs has inspected and released 4.6 tons of Zongzi for supply to Hong Kong and Macao, a month-on-month increase of 281%.
"Our Zongzi has a 15-day shelf life. Accelerating order fulfillment speed would allow us to capture a larger share of Hong Kong and Macao's consumer markets," said Deng Shikun, general manager of Zhongshan Ming Yue Foods Co Ltd, in the food processing workshop.
Zhongshan Customs has implemented tailored measures, opened the "green channel", coordinated inspection appointments to accelerate clearance processes to ensure Zongzi reaches Hong Kong and Macao markets before the Dragon Boat Festival.
So far this year, a total of 9.4 tons of Zongzi produced in Zhongshan, worth approximately 670,000 yuan, have been supplied to Hong Kong and Macao.
