The Huangpu Eel Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Center was inaugurated at Jinjin Seafood Restaurant on November 17.
The center integrates three key functions — cultural exhibition, hands-on craft experience, and food tasting — to create a unique culinary exploration space. Through multimedia displays, it showcases the authentic waterfront lifestyles and corresponding food traditions of the local community. Visitors can both savor ICH dishes and learn to prepare classic recipes firsthand.
Blessed by its river-confluence geography, Zhongshan's Huangpu Town has developed a unique brackish water system that nurtures the Huangpu eel, prized for its tender flesh and rich, savory flavor. Local chefs at upscale restaurants craft diverse eel dishes using this premium ingredient.
In 2025, the Traditional Cooking Techniques for Huangpu Eel was included in Zhongshan's municipal intangible cultural heritage list.
