At 7am on December 24, the 2017 “Yixian Cup” Zhongshan Marathon started at Xingzhong Avenue. Vice Mayor Xu Xiaoli and Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee of CPPCC Guo Huibing attended the starting ceremony, experienced the Happy Running, and presented the awards to winners in the end.

The route this year connected many of Zhongshan's cultural history and modern city landscape landmarks including Sun Wen Memorial Park, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Qijiang Park, Zimaling Park, Zhongshan Expo Center, and etc. 

The “Zhongshan Marathon” this year featured four events: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 12km Marathon and “Happy Running”. Total 15,000 contestants from 20 countries and regions including China, Britain, the United States and Japan attended the activity.

Among the contestants, there were special runners such as “the blade runner” Li Huaizhong, a 49-year-old disabled person who had just installed a new blade prosthesis, and Gao Yunfu, a 75-year-old well-known runner. There were also a group of wheelchair runners and a group of runners’ safety keepers including doctor runners, emergency runners and security guard runners.

Finally, Ba Xianwei and Fan Fengjuan respectively won the first place of the men's and women's Full Marathon, while Zhou Dayong and Huang Xiaoxia respectively won the first place of the men's and women's Half Marathon.
