Deng Shenghong selected as ‘National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor’

The General Office of Ministry of Culture of China announced “The 5th Recommended List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritors” recently. Zhongshan’s Deng Shenghong “The Descendant of Liufang Dragon Dance” was among the list.

Born in November 1949 in Liufang Village in Guzhen town, Zhongshan city, Deng Shenghong was fond of traditional customs since childhood. He was identified as “Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor” in 2009.

Reportedly, as the folklore activities of blessing during agricultural cultivation period, Liufang Dragon Dance has a history of more than 300 years. It was included on the list of “National Intangible Cultural Heritage” in 2011.

By the end of 2017, Zhongshan has 6 national intangible cultural heritage projects and 4 national intangible cultural heritage inheritors.
