Famous cartoonist Fang Cheng died at the age of 100 in Beijing on the morning of August 22.
Fang Cheng, formerly called Sun Shunchao, with the ancestral home at Zhongshan, Guangdong, was born in Beijing on June 10 of 1918. He was a famous cartoonist, essay writer and humor theory expert.
Fang Cheng lived in Zuobu Village of Nanlang town, Zhongshan in his childhood, in which case he had deep affection for his hometown. Over the years he returned Zhonghshan for many times and donated 456 pieces (sets) of his works to the city. He always said in public: “Even though I grew up in Beijing, I miss Zhongshan. My roots are here.”
Yesterday, all sectors of Zhongshan society mourned and recalled for the local art master. Many people also paid tribute to Fang Cheng online.
