The 4th Zhongshan (West District) Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Culture Festival opened in West District on December 29, 2018. The TCM Health Industry Cluster Zone was inaugurated at the opening ceremony. The signing ceremony for the "big health industry" investment was also held.

On the same day, representatives of Health Commission of Guangdong Province also brought along good news, saying that West District was approved to be the "National Health Promotion District". 

West District has seen rapid growth in residents' overall health literacy level, from 11.1% in 2016 to current 35.1%, which in advanced reached the expected goal of "20% by 2020" proposed by the state government.
