The WMKL Wax Museum, created by Zhongshan-based Grand Orient Wax Art Co Ltd, was open on April 29 in Canton Tower (commonly known as the "Small Waistline"). A total of 80 lifelike wax figures are displayed in the 2,000 square meters-large exhibition hall.

At the opening ceremony, famous singer Cai Guoqing came to the scene to unveil his wax figure.

Entering the wax museum, visitors will be first greeted by a showcase for traditional Lingnan martial arts including Wing Chun represented by Yip Man and Hung Kuen represented by Wong Fei-hung. They can also have a practice with the wooden dummies.

The "Lingnan Treasure Garden" is a well-designed street scene for showing local time-honored brands in Guangzhou, where people are able to have a general understanding of the humanistic and commercial culture of Guangdong from the late years of the Qing Dynasty to contemporary era. In addition to Cantonese culture, wax figures of outstanding representatives in various fields such as Yuan Longping, Yang Liwei and Mo Yan are also exhibited in this area.

"The creators hope to embody cultural inheritance and transmission in the wax museum. In the future, some modern elements of 'Huawei', 'Tencent', 'White Swan', 'Canton Tower', 'Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge' and other remarkable brands and projects will be put into the museum to demonstrate Guangdong people's bravery and pioneering spirit," said the director of the wax museum.

Located in Gangkou Town, Zhongshan City, Grand Orient Wax Art Co Ltd is one of the most professional wax figure creation organizations in China. It has been authorized by nearly 60 celebrities, including Yang Liwei, Zhang Jizhong, Liu Xiao Ling Tong (Zhang Jinlai), Jiang Kun, Liu Xiaoqing, Aaron Kwok and Li Chen. The company has also opened seven wax museums in Lijiang City, Xiamen City, Changsha City, and other places.
