The 8th World Kungfu Championships was held in Emei Mountain, Sichuan Province from June 16 to 18.

The championships were divided into domestic groups and overseas groups, consisting of individual, pair and team competitions. The individual competitions were divided into traditional martial art group and traditional instruments group. More than 5,000 contestants of over 300 teams from 48 countries and regions took part in the event.

Yan Lingzhen, the principal of Min'an Primary School in Nantou Town, and Miao Hualin, the coach, led 12 contestants to the event. After fierce competition, the team members won 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 12 bronze medals and the second prize of the team competition of Nanquan (Southern Style Boxing).
