The 7th China Middle (Primary) School Students Dragon and Lion Dance Tournament was held from August 15 to 19 in Anqing City, Anhui Province.

The competition includes a number of events such as Double Dragons, Lotus Dragon, traditional Southern Lion and Northern Lion. A total of 370 athletes of 35 teams from Beijing, Chongqing, Shandong, Anhui, Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Guangxi participated in the competition.

After fierce competition, Shalang Primary School from West District, Zhongshan won the third place in the Primary School Group's Traditional Southern Lion event. Nie Yukun, Huang Junxiang and Yang Qi were selected as the Best Drummer, Sportsmanship Athlete and Excellent Coach respectively. In addition, Shalang Primary School won the title of Sportsmanship Team.

According to reports, Shalang Primary School has specially established a teaching and research studio for dragon and lion dance. The school has been exploring and promoting dragon and lion dance-related culture and education in such ways as compiling a school-based textbook on dragon and lion dance, creating a set of Southern Lion inter-class exercises, etc.
