A special donation ceremony was held at Huangpu Hospital on September 9. Chen Jianfeng, a staff member of the hospital, donated about 30 pieces (sets) of letters from celebrities and dignitaries from all over the world, including signed photos, letter texts, inscriptions, greeting cards, small gifts and etc, to the Zhongshan Archives.

Over a decade ago, Chen Jianfeng wrote letters to dignitaries and celebrities in many countries on the theme of "calling for world peace and supporting Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games" and successively received replies and signed photographs from them. In May 2005, he donated all 65 of these precious letters at the "My Contribution to the Olympics" campaign held by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games, and he also became the torch bearer of the Beijing Olympic Games torch relay.

At the donation ceremony, Chen Jianfeng said that the donation included letters from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the International Olympic Committee Bach, King William Alexander of the Netherlands, Queen Margaret II of Denmark, former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, and the late famous patriotic Chinese-American Anna Chan Chennault.

"These letters and articles reflect their friendship with the Chinese people. I hope these precious replies would be preserved in Zhongshan Archives, where more people can hear the voices of the world," said Chen Jianfeng.
