The modern Cantonese opera "Storm in Mountain Village", adapted from famous Guangdong writer Wu Youheng's novel, was premiered in 1965. The play depicts the story of a guerrilla force led by female captain Liu Qin, who gets through the siege, arrives at Taoyuan Castle in Wuyi, Guangdong Province, mobilizes the public to establish a revolutionary base, and finally liberates Taoyuan Castle.
Since its launch, the play has aroused strong emotions in the domestic theatrical circles, and has been honored as a "milestone" in modern Cantonese opera.
On October 13 evening, the No.1 Troupe of Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theater and the Guangdong Xiangshan Cantonese Opera Troupe jointly performed this classic play, thereby bringing an audience of about 1,000 people in Zhongshan back to the eventful years.
