Anyone who has visited the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing must remember the statue of Dr Sun Yat-sen in the Memorial Hall. It took Paul Landowski, a French sculptor, about 2 years to complete the statue.
Recently, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Library has been donated with a small-sized bronze statue made according to the statue in Nanjing. This bronze statue was installed at the library on November 4.
The bronze statue is 90 cm high, 36.7 cm wide and 41.8 cm thick and has two parts. The upper part demonstrates Sun Yat-sen in a long robe and mandarin coat sitting properly on a chair, and the lower part contains six exquisite relief carvings of Mr Sun Yat-sen engaged in revolutionary activities.
"The bronze statue is based on a small-sized plaster statue created by Landowski at the M-30s Museum in France. Its shape and details are identical to the one at the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing. It is the only small-sized complete bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen made by Landowski in the world," said Huang Dingzhong, a collector in Zhongshan who owns this statue.
