The closing ceremony began with the playing of the grand national anthem, as the flag of each delegation and their representative athletes entered the stadium. An official of the games was on hand to award the winners of the "Best Team by Overall Score Award", "Sports Ethics Award", "Excellent Organization Award" and "Meritorious Organization Award".

At the closing ceremony, the big screen showcased all of the highlights of this year's athletes competing for champions.

The recreational performances were splendid. Among the best, the representative team of the Zhongshan Meteorological Bureau, champion of the Government Departments and Public Institution Group of this Games, together with thousands of students, performed the Ninth Set of Broadcasting Gymnastics of the People's Republic of China to the on-site audience.

The Games ran from March through November of this year. The competition was divided into 3 major groups; namely, Town Student Group, Town Adult Group, and Government Departments and Public Institution Group. More than 13,000 athletes from across the city took part in 42 highly contested events. The Zhongshan Games for the Disabled held 9 competitions, which saw a total of 420 entrants.
