With data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the State Information Center and relevant ministries and commissions, China City News, the People's Daily Cultural Media and other organizations have analyzed prefecture-level cities across the country and calculated the comprehensive influence index of their city brands, and scheduled to release the annual Top 100 Brand Cities in China list. 

Eight cities each in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Hebei provinces were selected in the list. Zhongshan ranked 24th among the Top 100, two places higher than last year. 

In 2008, Zhongshan put the Sun Yat-sen Culture Project top of its 8 major cultural projects. After more than 10 years of hard work, Sun Yat-sen Culture has won great popular support from Zhongshan people and become the first city brand of the city. It has also became a provincial proposition and a national proposition. 

The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area that was released on February 18 this year proposes to "jointly build the Humanistic Greater Bay Area" and explicitly "support Zhongshan to deeply tap and carry forward the Sun Yat-sen Culture resources".
