"Now I know that the founders of the four major department stores were all from Zhongshan. I didn't expect the commercial culture in my hometown to have such a long history," said Liu Huanjun, a young man who is from Macao but originated in Zhongshan.
On the afternoon of January 17, a three-day home-returning tour for Macao-based Zhongshan youth called "Getting to know Zhongshan" was launched. The first 20 members arrived at Xiangshan Commercial Culture Museum, the first stop of the trip.
It is reported that this activity has four major themes, namely, culture, education, tourism and traditional culture, sports, recreation, advanced technology and industry, and modern agriculture. This activity was held to encourage more offspring of Zhongshan fellow villagers living and working in Macao to return to hometown and to help them have a thorough understanding of the history and culture as well as economic and social progress of Zhongshan.
