A seven-character octave entitled "Zhang Fuqing" written by Xie Dan, a teacher from Guishan High School of Zhongshan, stood out from 91,677 poems at home and abroad and won the only first prize of the third "Prized Collection of Chinese Poetry" competition and was awarded 100,000 yuan.
Xie Dan said that she wrote this poem because she was moved by the deeds of Zhang Fuqing. "Mr Zhang barely talked about his achievements over the past six decades. He remained true to his original aspirations. This is exactly what we need to learn from him."
Xie Dan is very interested in traditional culture. Three years ago, she began to practice ancient poetry. "The process of writing is also the process of learning. There are many online resources available and many poets for us to learn from."
In the recent three years, Xie Dan has won 65 awards from such units as the Publicity Department of the Hunan Provincial CPC Committee and the Publicity Department of the municipal CPC committee of Kaifeng, Henan Province for her poetry.
