Zhongshan's Reading Index ranks 4th in Guangdong

April 23 marked the 27th "World Book and Copyright Day", and the Guangdong Reading Index Report (2021) was released.

In 2021, the comprehensive reading rate of adult residents in Guangdong was 94.77%, with an average annual reading quantity of 6.21 physical books, and an average daily digital reading time of 123.82 minutes, both of which were up from the previous year. In terms of the regional reading index, Guangzhou and Shenzhen continue to lead, and Zhongshan ranked fourth in the province, an improvement from a year earlier.

The Guangdong Reading Index Report (2021) includes four ranking lists in terms of Read Conditions and Guarantees, Reading Behaviors in Library, Individual Reading Habits, and Reading Environment. In the Reading Behaviors in Library ranking, Zhongshan performed well, jumping to third place from fifth a year earlier.

In recent years, the reading environment in Guangdong has continuously improved. Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Zhongshan were the top four cities in the Reading Environment ranking.

Activities for the 20th Zhongshan Reading Month were launched on April 22. This year event includes activities online and offline. More than 150 activities will be carried out, including "Free Books from the Government" and "Family Reading Promoter Selection".
