Huangpu Piaose, which originated from the puppet show in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, is characteristic of local culture and folk art. It features kids playing different characters in historical stories.
In December 2005, Huangpu was awarded the title of "China (Huangpu) Home of Piaose"; in 2007, Huangpu Piaose was selected into the provincial intangible cultural heritage list.
