The track and field competition of the 14th Guangdong Middle School Games commenced at Zhongshan's Xingzhong Stadium on July 21.

Spanning four days, the event has attracted over 760 athletes from 21 cities across the province competing in 58 events.

Zhongshan fielded a 49-member delegation of athletes and coaches. The first day of competition saw immediate triumphs. Tang Ning of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School secured gold in the boys' senior high school 100m with a time of 10.70 seconds, while Liang Zifeng from Zhongshan No. 1 Middle School claimed silver in the boys' junior high school 100m at 10.99 seconds.
