The youth version of the Cantonese opera "Mrs Willows" was staged at the Macao Cultural Centre on Sunday evening as a part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Art Cooperation Summit. The play received an enthusiastic reception and widespread acclaim.

The production is an innovative revamp of the Cantonese opera "Mrs Willows: Dong Xiaowan." Produced in Zhongshan, it features a collaborative cast from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and is adapted from the acclaimed historical novel by renowned writer Liu Sifen. The play has previously toured Guangzhou and Zhongshan.

Set against the backdrop of the Ming-Qing transition, the opera recounts the poignant tale of Dong Xiaowan and Mao Bijiang, who support each other through chaos while preserving cultural heritage. It embodies profound patriotism and cultural confidence.
