On June 13, in Round 6 of the 2026 Guangdong City Football Super League (GDSL) regular season, Team Zhongshan (in yellow jerseys) traveled to the Maoming Olympic Sports Center to take on Team Maoming.

The match was not just a contest on the pitch. It was a platform for the two cities to foster people-to-people exchanges and cement their friendship through football.

At halftime, players from both teams swapped hometown specialties. The Zhongshan side gifted Shaxi Ludou zongzi, Pukou juice drinks, and Guangxing Cantonese-style sausages, while Maoming reciprocated with Huazhou dried citrus peels, bojichui (steamed rice cake), and seasonal fruits such as lychees, wampees and Sanhua plums.
