The 2026 English Week at China (Hong Kong) English School (Primary Section) in Zhongshan has successfully concluded. Let's take a look back at the wonderful moments together!
English Week is one of the longest-standing raditional event at CHES kindergarten, primary and secondary sections. This year's primary school event centered around the theme, English for Life, English for Fun, with the guiding thread of discovering English in daily life. Focusing on real-life settings such as school, home and community, students were encouraged to flexibly use English in authentic and engaging contexts, experiencing the charm of language and nurturing their passion for ongoing English learning.
In regular English classes, students from Grades 1 to 6 studied practical English topics closely related to daily life — ranging from shopping and ordering food to asking for directions and visiting doctors. Through role-playing scenarios, they mastered useful expressions, truly achieving the goal of learning by doing.
The highlight of this year's English Week was its core activities, which all students participated in through diverse formats tailored to each grade:
Grade 1: "I Spy – Little English Detectives," building vocabulary through fun observation.
Grade 2: "Signs Around Us – Collecting Real-Life Signs," identifying English signs in everyday surroundings.
Grade 3: "My Community – Exploring Neighborhoods," describing their living environment in English.
Grade 4: "I Am a Little Tour Guide," introducing campus or hometown attractions.
Grade 5: "Brand Explorers – Investigating Brand Stories," exploring the English culture behind international brands.
Grade 6: "English in Life – Practicing Real-Life Scenarios," simulating authentic conversations to solve practical problems.
