Four Presidents of the Dormitory Self-discipline Committee of China (Hong Kong) English School (C.H.E.S.) gathered together for a chat in the new academic school year at the University of Edinburgh, which ranked No.23 in the 2023 QS Ranking. They are Mai Yongxin, graduate of class 2021, He Lujie and Zhang Haoxin, graduates of class 2022, and Chen Keyu, graduate of class 2023.
Chairman of the Self-discipline Committee for four consecutive terms, studied at the same university
C.H.E.S. pays attention to the cultivation of students' self-care ability and the construction of student organizations on campus. Each campus has set up a student union and a student self-discipline committee. Among them, the self-discipline committee is the student organization that coordinates the work and the arrangement of student activities of the Dormitory Department. Mai Yongxin, He Lujie, Zhang Haoxin and Chen Keyu were the chairlady and chairman of the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Self-Discipline Committee respectively.

Yongxin once jokingly referred to herself as "one of the most senior students" at C.H.E.S., where she had attended since kindergarten. In addition to the Chairlady of the Self-discipline Committee, she also served as the President of the Student Union for one term: "Living in secondary school for six years has transformed me from a little princess in front of my parents into a fully independent girl."
Zhang Haoxin studied in C.H.E.S. for 11 years from primary school to high school. When he was in junior middle school, he founded the student association "Wen Xin Ge" (a comic cross-talk club) and participated in many activities and competitions. He served as the President of the Recreational Department of the Student Union in the first year of high school, and the Chairman of the Self-discipline Committee in the second year of high school. During the same time, he and his classmates organized a group to participate in the famous "Astan Simulation Business Competition", and won the first prize of Corporate Roadshow, Commercial Duel, Poster Design, Stock Simulation, and the first prize of online operation revenue in South China.
There are also two C.H.E.S. graduates who were once members of the Student Union at Imperial College London
Coincidentally, two students from C.H.E.S. Student Union met at another prestigious British university - Imperial College London.
Luo Zhaoming is a Zhongshan native, and he was transferred to C.H.E.S. in grade three at primary school. He joined the school Prefect Team in grade 7, and didn't quit until the grade 11. In high school, he participated in the Australian Chemistry Olympiad (ASOC) and won a gold medal. In 2021, Luo Zhaoming received many admission offers from the prestigious universities in the UK, including Imperial College London, the University of Warwick, the University of Birmingham, etc., and he chose to go to Imperial College London (QS World University ranking 8th in that year he graduated).
Chen Ta Chun and Luo Zhaoming are classmates, and he came to Zhongshan from Taiwan Province with his parents. He studied at C.H.E.S. from grade 1 until grade 12. In his first year of high school, Chen Ta Chun joined the Student Union, and later successfully ran for president of the Student Union. "I got to know a lot of seniors and friends in the student Union, and also had the opportunity to participate in a lot of school events organization and coordination, which greatly improved my ability and confidence in dealing with people."
