Graduation Season at CHES: 30 students admitted into world's top 100 universities

The 2024 Joint Graduation Ceremony of China (Hong Kong) English School (CHES) was held in the school hall of the Secondary School on June 20. A total of 1,600 parents, teachers and students attended the event, witnessing the achievement of the graduates.

More than 1,600 parents, teachers and students attended the 2024 graduation ceremony.

Dr Choi, Chairman of the school board, delivered his opening address, expressing gratitude to the entire faculty for their dedicated work and extending his heartfelt blessings to all graduates. He also encouraged them to uphold the school motto, pursue knowledge, and contribute to society. Following this, Mr Liu Chaorong, Principal of the Secondary School, joined Dr Choi in presenting graduation diplomas to approximately 100 senior high graduates. Then, Ms Xie Hui, Headmistress of the Primary School, accompanied Dr Choi in presenting graduation certificates to 150 Primary School graduates. Teachers and parents eagerly captured those unforgettable moments with their cameras.

All high school graduates this year have secured admissions to both domestic and international institutions with an outstanding 30 students gaining acceptance into multiple top-100 global ranking universities. For example, Maia Zhou Meilin from F6B was admitted to Imperial College London, The University of Edinburgh, The University of Manchester, King's College London, University of Toronto and McGill University at the same time. Mo Zijian from F6B was also accepted by Imperial College London, University College London, The University of Melbourne, The University of Sydney and other universities. Peng Hiu Lam from F6C was admitted by The University of Melbourne, The University of Sydney, The University of Manchester, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and other universities.

In her expression of gratitude, valedictorian Maia Zhou Meilin, a Canadian national, conveyed her deep connection to CHES, where she had been enrolled from kindergarten through senior high school. She pledged to uphold the school motto of "Learned, Trustworthy, Innovative and Dedicated" and remain committed to diligent study as a token of appreciation for her teachers. Additionally, some graduates were presented with certificates recognizing their outstanding achievements and a select group of exceptional students were awarded IELTS and A-level scholarships by the guests and school leaders. The ceremony concluded with all graduates taking the stage to present flowers to their parents and teachers amidst mutual blessings.

It is reported that since 2006, more than 2,000 high school students have been admitted to well-known universities at home and abroad.
