At the joint graduation ceremony of Primary and Secondary Schools of China (Hong Kong) English School for the class of 2024 on June 20, the Malaysian student A.P. Dhevvan happily received his graduation certificate from the teachers and ended his 12-year study at C.H.E.S.. He is about to embark on a new journey, majoring in Earth Environmental Science, and striving to achieve his long-term goals.
Dhevvan has been admitted by five UK universities including The University of Bristol which ranks 54 in the QS World University Rankings, the University of Glasgow (QS#78), and the University of Leeds (QS#82). Among all the majors, he filled in Environmental Geoscience and related majors without any exception.
"Environmental science has always been a topic and field that I'm very interested in. I had this dream initially in junior middle school. Because of participating in an international exchange meeting, my dream was strengthened even more," said Dhevvan. The 12-year study time at C.H.E.S. has left him many unforgettable memories. What benefited him the most was the bilingual teaching environment here, which enabled him to speak fluent Mandarin and communicate with others in English without obstacles." I come from a multicultural family. Choosing an international school was a natural thing. Having lived in Zhongshan for such a long time, I love my school very much, and also Zhongshan."
Looking ahead, this outgoing and handsome Malaysian teenager expressed with great anticipation that he plans to work and study at the same time after finishing his undergraduate program and continue his further studies for a master's or even a doctoral degree. Being able to enter a university ranked among the top 100 internationally will be highly beneficial to his career planning and life development.
As an outstanding graduate, Dhevvan offered valuable advice to other students who have the intention to apply for overseas universities. He encouraged everyone to forget the formulaic learning methods, perceive the differences in international education from a more open perspective, and actively explore the learning styles that suit them. Meanwhile, he suggested actively participating in international competition activities and school clubs to maximize their competitiveness.
