In the context of the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the opening of the ShenZhong Link, which has broken the development bottleneck between the two sides of the Pearl River, many Hong Kong residents have come to various cities in the Greater Bay Area to work, study, invest and live in recent years. During this period, many interesting stories have occurred. Recently, the Hong Kong media HOY TV launched a series of special reports titled "Living Well in the Greater Bay Area". In the "Education" section of this serie, China (Hong Kong) English School was selected as a model, and interviews were conducted with Hong Kong students, parents and teachers from China and abroad, focusing on the school's comprehensive advantages of being based in Zhongshan and serving parents and students from the Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for 31 years.

A Hong Kong father moved to Zhongshan with his two sons

As a large number of people from Hong Kong and Macao come to work and do business in the mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area, how to solve the problem of their children's education has become increasingly important. HOY TV interviewed Mr. Yam, a Hong Kong father. During the epidemic, his two sons were taking online classes at home in Hong Kong, but their concentration declined. "By chance, I saw someone introduce an English school in Zhongshan that offers a direct path to middle and high school on the Internet. After asking my two sons, we moved to Zhongshan."  Mr. Yam initially tried it out and transferred his two sons to the primary school of China (Hong Kong) English School. "At that time, I thought, if the curriculums in Hong Kong and Zhongshan were not well connected and they really couldn't adapt, we would return to Hong Kong at any time."

Before the opening of the ShenZhong Link, it took three hours to travel between Zhongshan and Hong Kong. After its opening, the travel time was reduced to two hours, which is very convenient. "Even if some parents live in Hong Kong, the school has a boarding department. On weekends, there are special vehicles to take students to the pier, and teachers will accompany them to take the ship back to Hong Kong," Mr. Yam introduced. China (Hong Kong) English School has diverse pathways for further education. In the future, it will respect the children's own wishes and abilities, and then consider whether to apply for overseas universities, or universities in Hong Kong and Macao, or even take the joint college entrance examination to enter universities on the mainland.

HOY TV Enters Zhongshan Bilingual School

Hong Kong media HOY TV launched a series of special reports titled "Living Well in the Greater Bay Area". In the "Education" section of this series, the host and interview team visited China (Hong Kong) English School, presented the campus life of this bilingual international school. The host Lok Yik Yue explored the school facilities and teaching staff for Hong Kong parents who wanted to bring their kids to Zhongshan.

What Hong Kong parents most worried about is whether the curriculum is connected with Hong Kong. "When some Hong Kong children first arrive at our school, their parents will worry that they will not read enough English and their proficiency level will not be able to keep up. As a result, Hong Kong parents came to the school and found that the English education is basically the same as that in Hong Kong schools, "said Ms Cai Dongmei, the Discipline Director of the primary school at C.H.E.S.." In addition, our math and Chinese use the national unified teaching materials, and the difficulty level is one or two grades higher than that in Hong Kong."

Established in 1994, China (Hong Kong) English School is one of the first private bilingual international schools in China and the first Hong Kong-funded international school in the Pearl River Delta. At present, there are more than 200 Hong Kong students in the primary school department.
