A delegation of British school principals recently visited China (Hong Kong) English School (short for CHES) in Zhongshan City. These British schools include the Oaklands Catholic School and Sixth Form College, the Hayling College, the Horndean Technology College, the Park Community School, the Cowplain School, and King's Academy Group.
In the morning, CHEUNG Ho Nam, President of the Student Union's Foreign Affairs Department, led a group of vibrant student ambassadors in welcoming the visiting British educators. From the library and laboratories to the teaching buildings, school hall and sports grounds, the students independently designed the tour route and guided the guests in fluent English throughout the visit. With remarkable composure and a strong sense of ownership, these young hosts shared engaging stories about campus life, demonstrating exceptional language skills and an impressive international demeanor.

During the exchange session, TAM Yuen Ting Jasmine, President of the Student Union, skillfully facilitated the discussion in English. Sofia, a representative from Grade 7, also delivered a full English speech introducing the school's educational philosophy and student development experience. In the interactive segment, principals, school representatives, and students engaged in lively round-table conversations in a relaxed and dynamic atmosphere.

The students not only expressed themselves fluently but also demonstrated depth of thought and genuine passion for their school, allowing the guests to witness how CHES students combine an international outlook with professional competence. Mr Richard Cunningham, Headteacher of the Oaklands Catholic School in the UK and leader of the delegation, spoke highly of the school's international education achievements: "CHES is the only school on our tour where students led the entire visit. They confidently introduced their campus, educational philosophy, and personal growth experiences entirely in English. Their confidence and high caliber were truly impressive."
This visit reflects the school's commitment to integrating the best of Chinese and Western education while nurturing talented individuals with a global perspective and a deep-rooted Chinese identity. In recent news, the school's Class of 2026 has achieved outstanding outcomes, receiving nearly 100 conditional offers from over 10 world-renowned universities ranked within the global top 100, including University College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. This serves as yet another testament to the school's educational excellence.
