The traditional-modern symphony cantata drama "Salty Water Songs" made its debut on the night of December 16 at Zhongshan Culture & Art Center. As a gift for celebration of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, "Salty Water Songs" provided audiences with a different audio-visual performance and explored a new path for inheritance and development of salty water song.

Reportedly, "Salty Water Songs" is a combination of Chinese and western music by orchestrating vocal solo, children's solo, mixed chorus and children's chorus with symphony and folk music.

Most of the songs were re-created with salty water song elements and performed in Mandarin, in addition to some songs that are sung in Cantonese and Hakka.

"Salty Water Songs", the general director and copywriter of which was Chairman of Zhongshan Committee of CPPCC and Vice-chairman of Guangdong Writers Association Qiu Shuhong, was composed and arranged by resident composer of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra Lan Chengbao and performed by Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Zhongshan Choir, Dongsheng Shenglong Children's Choir of Zhongshan and some other Zhongshan-based singers and music teachers.
