Renovation of dirty and smelly watercourses is one of Zhongshan’s Top10 projects related to citizens’ livelihood. According to the plan, 11 watercourses renovation will be completed this year. 

According to Zhongshan Housing and Construction Bureau, the renovation of Gouwan Watercourse, Yuanfeng Watercourse, Dutou Watercourse, Hengchong Watercourse (Shiqi section) and Qingjing Road Watercourse is completed. The treatment for six other watercourses are under work. 

The river renovation in the current stage mainly includes reducing dirty stuff, dredging water, making up water shortage for recycling and repairing ecological system. After cleaning and dredging steps, water recycling project and repair project of ecological system in river will be done. Water environment has a close bearing on people’s core interest and future development. Long-term mechanism will be introduced for watercourse treatment. To improve water environment, follow-up management will be done after the water-recycling project.
