On the morning of August 29th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Mingu Road (Huanzhen North Road section) was held in Xiaolan Town, in a sign that construction of Mingu Road formally began.
Mingu Road is 39.2 km long with an estimated investment of 5.8 billion yuan. The road connects 7 towns in Zhongshan including Minzhong, Sanjiao, Huangpu, Nantou, Dongfeng, Xiaolan and Guzhen. It leads to southern Foshan and Shunde to the east and southern Jiangmen to the west, and is radiated by neighboring cities including Guangzhou, Foshan and Jiangmen.
With the road completed, goods will be transported to Huangpu Station of the Nanshagang Railway, which will ease traffic pressure on Shakou Bridge, reduce logistics cost, facilitate trade and exchanges, and contribute to a more integrated group development of the north-west towns in Zhongshan.
The Huanzhen North Road section in specific is about 3 km long and 51.5 meters wide. It will be built into a 2-way 8-lane road from 2-way 4-lane. Two undercrossing tunnels will be built beneath Lanjun Highway and North Chaoyuan Road in 18 months, with an investment of 390 million yuan.
The road is designed with another 3 new underpasses for pedestrians to cross the road. When the project is completed, vehicles can pass the whole road at a high speed nonstop.
