Dachong town of Zhongshan was included on the the second list of “National Characteristic Small Towns” announced recently by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) on August 28. On the following day, Guangdong Development and Reform Commission released the first list of demonstration sites of characteristic small towns, on which Dachong was included.

Back in this January, Dachong was also listed as one of the 18 municipal-level characteristic small towns in Zhongshan. Up to now, Dachong has achieved characteristic small town “honor grand slam” at municipal, provincial and state level.

In March, 2013, after included into the 3 cultural tourist towns as part of the Guangdong 12th five-year plan for town development, Dachong took this opportunity to transform and upgrade the mahogany furniture industry and initiated the development goal of “China Mahogany Cultural Tourism Town” in Guangdong.
