Since open to traffic in 2011, Shagu Highway has facilitated residents’ traveling between central city, Guzhen, Henglan and Xiaolan Town. Reporter learned that Shagu Highway will start the construction to be made “expressway” without traffic lights. At present the project is under “investigation, design and bidding” stage. 

The construction starts from the crossing of Zhongxing Avenue in Guzhen and Old Qijiang Highway and ends at the crossing of G105 cloverleaf interchange and Shagu Highway, covering 18.307 km from Guzhen, Henglan to Shaxi Town. 

This construction includes rebuilding of 3 crossings out of 5, where there are traffic lights, into two-way 8-lane first class highway and urban road. The other 2 crossings are under project feasibility planning stage. 

Bid documents show that the project includes the construction of three additional Yuxiang Road Overpass, Sewage Plant Road Overpass and North Longxing Road Overpass, as well as side roads for overpass and entrance and exit for the main and side roads. The project is expected to cost 884.9 million yuan.
