"The Zhongshan Public Transport System Draft Plan" is publicized on the official website of Zhongshan Transportation Bureau recently, reporter learned from the bureau.

According to the draft plan, Zhongshan is about to develop a well-arranged, multifold and moderate competitive integrated transit system, which takes passenger corridors as links, transfer junctions as nodes, “rail transit + express bus” as framework, regular bus as main body, taxi and water bus as supplement and bicycle system as extended part.

The draft plan shows that city center will be the major part for transportation development. The short-term planning period will last until 2020 and long-term until 2030. An “public bus + slow traffic” system will be developed to support the construction of transportation junction within west bank region of Pearl River Delta and livable city of Pearl River Delta.

The draft plan also mentions the planning of water public transportation, which involves 6 water bus routes and 5 intercity water bus routes connecting Zhongshan with Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao.
